Well, trip number 10 to Martin, Slovakia is about to depart. In 6 days, 14 hours, and 30 minutes, all of those going to Martin will leave their hometown and make the trip to Los Angeles to begin serving overseas. Those going on the trip are Charlotte Mosqueira, Priscilla Thomas, Breck Thomas, Erica Thomas, and Sarah Ormonde (top row), Joyce Bauer, Jennifer Jordan, Pam Reistetter (middle row), Arianna Metcalfe, Sara Martin and Pastor Randy Ouimette (bottom row). This team of 11 represents 4 different churches from California, Saint John's Lutheran Church in Arroyo Grande, Hope Lutheran Church in Fresno, Calvary Lutheran Church in Morro Bay, and Mercy Church in San Luis Obispo, and these 11 are more than excited to serve, learn and grow over the next few weeks. Please pray for us as we embark on this journey to teach Conversational English Classes as part of the Lutheran Bible School's summer community outreach program. Please pray for our health, energy and patience, that we will be physically able to serve in our classroom settings as well as safe travels, wisdom in teaching, guidance in forming friendships, and boldness for sharing our faith. In addition to praying for the team specifically, you can pray for the people of Martin to have open and receptive hearts, those who are our students during the weeks, the leaders, families and staff of the Center for Christian Education as they celebrate significant anniversaries in the ministry of their schools, the teachers, students and staff at the University in Zilina, the churches and their pastors, the encouragement of Christians and for the leaders of the City of Martin and the Slovak Republic. Most of all, please pray for the team and the ability to be flexible in whatever situations may arise. Thank you for partnering with us on this journey. We invite you to follow us daily on this blog as we will post photos and reflections on the day's activities.
